Benton sans was designed in 1995, by a famous typeface designer Tobias Frere Jones and expended by another designer from Font Bureau named Cyrus Highsmith. This typeface was a redesigned version of Benton Gothic font.
Later in 2003 Cyrus Highsmith extended this font family with more extra widths, italics and weights. These extra widths and weights were the best replacement of Franklin Gothic and Alternate Gothic.
